Drama Name:  以家人之名   [Go Ahead ] - 46 EPISODES

Cast:  Seven Tan as Li Jian Jian, Song Wei Long as Ling Xiao, Steven Zhang as He Zi Qiu

Language: Chinese

'Go Ahead' is one of the top ten dramas of 2020. It is a mixture of various emotions. The story revolves around three troubled children who find solace in their common experiences to become the best family that they can be for each other. Leaving your family is difficult, but it's even more difficult when you're left with a bleak future. As these children get older, they realize that they can no longer live together. Will they live together again? If so, will they be happy?

Characters:
Female protagonist: Jian Jian is raised by her father and their neighbor. Growing up with guys had made her no less than a boy. Seven Tan has wonderfully played the role, initially as a tomboy teenager and later, a responsible daughter who strives to achieve her goals. There are scenes where there is awkwardness between the siblings that feel very real. The character as a whole has a short temper and I must state that no one else could have portrayed this part better than Seven.

Male protagonist 1: Ling Xiao's portrayal by Song Wei Long was excellent. Xiao is the eldest of the three children, thus he was the most mature.  He cares about his family and wants them to have a happy and fulfilling existence. Song's personality is a wonderful fit for this role. His calm and steady demeanor, as well as his physique, reveal the genuine core of the character. One would instantly fall in love with him (Xiao as well as Song), though Song is way taller than all the other characters. (It does matter to some extent, right?)

Male protagonist 2: Steven Zhang as Zi Qiu is the third protagonist. A fun-loving but caring person, just what we expect from Steven! This character (in my opinion) is the most hurt in the entire drama. Even then he stays strong. He has high self-esteem and believes that he must fulfill his duties as a son and brother and make sure that his little sister and father live happily.

Verdict:

The drama as whole talks about various morals and aspects of life. It has a unique storyline and the perfect cast. It has a warm familial theme which makes you want to watch it. As much as you would love the main roles, the second leads also portray the various difficulties they face in life; fighting for making their own decisions, and fighting against all odds to follow their passion.

The series has a soothing OST along with a great direction and screenplay. Overall I would rate it a 9/10.
